  1. Dagmar, I have been considering going to an assisted living facility. My condition, which is in early stages has placed a lot of stress on my husband, who is 77, and I don't want to wear him out because of my illness. Have you ever thought about doing this? I know they could help me with everyday things, but don't know if this is something you have thought about.

  2. Assisted living facilities are a good choice if the pALS lives alone or is a burden to their family/caregiver. Another option is to contract with a local agency or independent provider to come into your home to help relieve your husband of specific duties (everything from housekeeping to bathing/dressing you). It depends on your financial situation and emotional preferences.

  3. Dagmar, first came the drop foot, then walked with a cane for five months, then the falls & no more walking up or down stairs, then walking with a walker for two years, another drop foot in right foot, & taking a lot of tests, then no more driving, & now wheelchair bound. Diagnosed with ALS in January of 2021. Are there any support groups here in Glendale, AZ that I can hook up to? ~Gina Maynes~
